HACKENSACK, N.J. — A part of the Hackensack River is now on america Environmental Safety Company’s Superfund record.
The 19-mile stretch of the river from Newark Bay to Oradell was added to the Superfund website as a result of the riverbed confirmed excessive ranges of arsenic, lead and different contaminants.
The EPA says placing the Hackensack on the record means the river will get precedence and harmful chemical substances shall be eliminated.
The company says it is too early to find out the price of the cleanup.
