The US navy on Thursday reportedly shot down a Turkish drone in Syria that was deemed a possible menace after it got here too near U.S. navy personnel.

The drone was assessed to be working in too shut of proximity to U.S. troops on the bottom in Hasakah, Syria, a U.S. official advised the Related Press. The official, who spoke to the AP on the situation of anonymity, mentioned the drone was flying in an “unsafe” and “unsynchronized” method.

The AP famous: “Usually, the U.S. and Turkish militaries, that are NATO allies, work in shut coordination in conducting air maneuvers.”

A Turkish Protection Ministry official mentioned the drone concerned within the incident didn’t belong to the Turkish armed forces, Reuters reported.

Two nameless U.S. officers advised Reuters that the U.S. gave “a number of” warnings to Turkish navy officers that the drone was too near their personnel. The unnamed U.S. officers mentioned an American F-16 fighter jet was accountable for taking the drone down.

One of many officers advised Reuters: “The Turkish drone was believed to be armed.”
