Heavy rainfall has been forecast for northern NSW and south east Queensland with extra flooding probably on the way in which.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued extreme climate warnings for heavy rainfall for the Northern Rivers, Northern Tablelands, components of the Mid North Coast in addition to south east Queensland.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms have been forecast to develop over flood-ravaged northern NSW, with a trough over southeast Queensland forecast to deepen on Sunday night and Monday.
Thunderstorms are anticipated for Monday and Tuesday, with warnings that heavy rainfall could result in flash flooding on Monday afternoon.
The BOM has forecast six-hourly rainfall totals in extra of 180mm for some areas, bringing with it the potential for landslides and flooding.
A flood warning has been issued for a number of components of northern NSW together with Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah, Byron Bay, Lismore, Yamba, Grafton, Coffs Harbour and Dorrigo.
The rain over the Northern Rivers and mid north Coast is anticipated to proceed over the primary half of the week.
Catchments within the area are already saturated after being smashed by current floods, with minor to reasonable flood potential within the first half of this week.
Extreme thunderstorms are anticipated for components of inland northern NSW on Sunday afternoon, with heavy rainfall and flash flooding warnings issued for Moree, Narrabri, Walgett, Cobar, Bourke and Brewarrina.
“We’ve got seen flash flooding and fatalities happen (through the current floods) with solely reasonable falls,” BOM meteorologist Jackson Browne mentioned.
“And with heavy-to-intense falls, this threat could be very vital for flash flooding.”
There have been huge falls over components of NSW over the previous few days together with 180mm at Wauchope, close to Port Macquarie, on Friday and Alstonville, east of Lismore, copped 200mm on Saturday.
As much as 70mm is predicted for Lismore on Monday with falls of 40mm to 100mm anticipated on Tuesday.
Heavy rainfall is predicted for south east Queensland for Monday, with 60mm to 100mm forecast for Brisbane, earlier than the climate system strikes south into NSW on Tuesday.
“We do have in depth areas of south east Queensland in a normal flood watch,” Mr Browne mentioned.
“It’s possible that we’ll see that prolonged into the Brisbane and Sunshine Coast areas.
“There are minor flood watches over giant areas of New South Wales and reasonable (flood watches) particularly up within the not too long ago flood-affected components of northern New South Wales”.

* Hastings River – minor flooding
* Camden Haven River – minor flooding
* Manning and Gloucester Rivers – minor flooding
* Wollombi Brook and Decrease Hunter River – minor flooding
